STUDY ON INCREASE IN PRACTICE OF NON-PRESCRIBED ANTIBIOTIC USE IN TAMILNADU STATE, INDIA.

Abstract The purpose of the study is to find profoundly the determination of the prevalence of increase in practice of non prescribed antibiotic use in region of Tamilnadu in India. Scope is to evaluate the knowledge of antibiotic and its usage among the bucolic patient and the effective communication and relation with pharmacist in their nearby pharmacy shop. A community based, cross –sectional survey, conducted through Tamilnadu, India. The questionnaire was completed by a random sample of general population within the target population, taking into account, demographic differences in the community. Participants response differed according to different socio-demographic variables (age, sex, education level, occupation, income level and marital status) were studied. In conclusion, easy, cheap and less time consumption and easy availability and distribution of drug by pharmacist as a counter sale without prescription may lead to practice of non prescribed antibiotic use in Tamilnadu state, India.
