A REVIEW ON SOME 2,5-DISUBSTITUTED [1,3,4] THIADIAZOLE SUBSTITUTED THIAZOLIDINONE DERIVATIVES AS A POTENT ANTIMICROBIAL AGENTS

Abstract A series of [2-(substituted aryl)-3-(5-(4-chlorophenyl)-1,3,4-thiadiazol- 2-yl) thiazolidin-4-one derivatives were synthesized by the reaction of the substituted Schiff-bases with thioglycolic acid in ethanol. Structure of the synthesized compounds were confirmed on the basis of physicochemical and spectral data (IR,1HNMR and Mass). All the synthesized compounds were screened on gram positive, gram negative bacteria using cup-plate-agar diffusion method. These compound showed significant activity against staphylococcus aureus, pseudomonas aeruginosa and Bacillus subtilis respectively. Keywords: Antimicrobial activity, Schiff basis, 1,3,4-thiadazoles.
