Abstract
The World Health Organization estimates that approximately 33 % of
the total global burden of disease is related to reproductive health.
Ayurveda is rich source of holistic information about disease
prevention and cure. Sleshmala Yoni Vyapat is described as a condition
with Picchila, Pandu and Sheetala discharge from vagina, Kandu,
Mandaruja along with Artava-Dushti and Panduta. These can be
correlated to VVC caused by candida albicans. A microscopic wet
mount confirms the diagnosis. Here an attempt is done to screen,
isolate and treat the actual cases of Shleshmala Yoni Vyapat infected
by candida albicans culture & sensitivity then douching with
Panchavalkala kwatha comprising of Vata (Ficus bengalensis)
Udumbara (Ficus glomerata), Ashwatha(Ficus religiosa), Parisha (Ficus Lacor), and
Plakshya (Thespesia populnea).
Keywords: Sleshmala Yoni Vyapath, Panchavalkala, kwatha, Upashaya, Candida Albicans, Antifungal, Vulvovaginal Candidiasis.
