Abstract

PREVENTIVE ROLE OF AQUEOUS AND ETHANOLIC EXTRACTS OF CASSIA FISTULA L. BARK IN ALGESIA AND INFLAMMATON

Abstract

The present study was carried out to investigate analgesic and antiinflammatory activities of aqueous and ethanolic extracts of Cassia fistula stem bark. Stem bark was extracted with ethanol and water. Analgesic and anti-inflammatory activities of these extracts were assessed in wistar rats with hot plate test, acetic acid induces writhing and carrageenan induced paw oedema. Aqueous and ethanolic extracts (at dose 400 mg/kg) showed significant analgesic and antiinflammatory effects.
