Abstract

A KNOWN CASE OF VITILIGO VULGARIS WITH VENOUS THROMBOEMBOLISM AND PULMONARY ARTERIAL HYPERTENSION-PATIENT MONITORING AND PATIENT COUNSELING BY CLINICAL PHARMACIST

Abstract

Pulmonary embolism (PE) is a blockage of the lung's main artery or one of its branches by a substance that has traveled from elsewhere in the body through the bloodstream (embolism). PE results from a deep vein thrombosis (commonly a blood clot in a leg) that breaks off and migrates to the lung, a process termed venous thromboembolism (VTE). Pulmonary arterial hypertension is caused by narrowing or constriction of pulmonary arteries. Vitiligo vulgaris is loss of pigmentation of skin in patches. Present case was admitted with the chief complaint of acute pulmonary thromboembolism with severe pulmonary arterial hypertension and deep vein thrombosis. He was previously suffering with vitligo vulgaris. On treatment patient was found to be coherent, showing stable blood pressure, pulse rate and responding to therapy and discharged by giving discharge medication. He was counseled about the disease state and importance o f medication adherence.
