Abstract
The increase in prevalence of multiple drug resistance has slowed
down the development of new synthetic antimicrobial drugs, and has
necessitated the search for new antimicrobials from alternative sources.
Phytochemicals from medicinal plants and various mineral drugs are
showing antimicrobial activities, have the potential of filling this need.
Diarrhoea and dysentery are the very common infections of GIT seen
in all over world especially in developing countries like India. E.coli,
Staph aureus, Entameoba histolytica, Shigella, Salmonella typhi etc.
are common amongst them. Jwaratisar and Pravahika mentioned in
Ayurveda are the condition which can match with the signs and
symptoms caused due to infections of E.coli, Shigella, Salmonella
typhi etc. Various texts in Ayurveda had described lots of drugs acting
on these conditions. Anandbhairav Rasa is one of them. Thus considering all above facts and
references, present research work is carried to find out our hidden antibiotics like
Anandbhairav Rasa. So we select this topic to see the antimicrobial activity of Anandbhairav
Rasa in vitro.
Keywords: Jwaratisara, Pravahika, Anandbhairav Rasa, E.coli, Shigella, Salmonella typhi.
