Abstract

IN VITRO STUDY OF ANTIMICROBIAL PROPERTY OF ANANDBHAIRAV RASA

Abstract

The increase in prevalence of multiple drug resistance has slowed down the development of new synthetic antimicrobial drugs, and has necessitated the search for new antimicrobials from alternative sources. Phytochemicals from medicinal plants and various mineral drugs are showing antimicrobial activities, have the potential of filling this need. Diarrhoea and dysentery are the very common infections of GIT seen in all over world especially in developing countries like India. E.coli, Staph aureus, Entameoba histolytica, Shigella, Salmonella typhi etc. are common amongst them. Jwaratisar and Pravahika mentioned in Ayurveda are the condition which can match with the signs and symptoms caused due to infections of E.coli, Shigella, Salmonella typhi etc. Various texts in Ayurveda had described lots of drugs acting on these conditions. Anandbhairav Rasa is one of them. Thus considering all above facts and references, present research work is carried to find out our hidden antibiotics like Anandbhairav Rasa. So we select this topic to see the antimicrobial activity of Anandbhairav Rasa in vitro.
