FACILE SYNTHESIS, CHARACTERIZATION AND PHARMACOLOGICAL INVESTIGATION OF SOME NEWER 1,3,5- TRIAZINE BASE CHALCONE, PYRAZOLINE, PYRIMIDINE AND PYRIMIDINETHIONE DERIVATIVES
Anjani Solankee*
Abstract A major medicinal importance is given to design and synthesize newer less toxic medicines due to raise in problem of infectious diseases cause by various bacterial pathogens in world which has directed to synthesize pyrazoline (5a-g), pyrimidine (6a-g) and pyrimidinethione (7a-g) derivatives via the reactions of the versatile, chalcone (4a-g) with the appropriate reagents bearing 1,3,5-triazine nucleus. The newly synthesized compounds were characterized by IR, 1H NMR, 13C NMR and elemental analysis. The compounds were evaluated for their in vitro antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus [MTCC-96] and Bacillus subtilis [MTCC-441] as Gram-positive, Escherichia coli [MTCC-443] and Salmonella paratyphi-B [MTCC-773] as Gramnegative bacterial strains. Several derivatives exhibited pronounced antibacterial activity. Compounds 4b, 5b, 6b, 6d, 7b, 7d and 7e emerged as most proficient members of the series and may be used as the lead compound in a future study. Consequently, synthesized derivatives were found to be worthy of further investigation. Keywords: Chalcones, pyrazolines, pyrimidines, pyrimidinethiones, antibacterial activity.
