ANTIHYPERGLYCEMIC EVALUATIONS OF HERBAL DRUG COMBINATIONS BY IN VITRO METHODS

Abstract

In the present study antihyperglygemic activity was investigated using In vitro models viz. α-amylase inhibitory activity, α-glucosidase inhibitory activity, inhibition of non-enzymatic glycosylation of hemoglobin and Sucrase inhibitory activity. Herbal drug Combinations of stem bark extract of Limonia acidissima Linn and Ficus hispida Linn were taken for the evaluation. In vitro investigation has been shown that there was dose dependent inhibitory action among all the samples. Combined extract of Limonia acidissima Linn and Ficus hispida Linn has been shown the enzyme inhibition in dose dependent manners among all other samples of extracts.
