PHYTOPHARMACOLOGICAL STUDY OF CITRULLUS LANATA: A REVIEW

Abstract Watermelon Citrullus lanata is a nourishing and popular fruit in the world. It is a warm-season crop belonging to the family Cucurbitaceae. The fruit devoted cooling effect. It is used in various treatments. The plants shows preasence of a variety of proteins, minerals, amino acids, vitamins and fats. The plant shows various pharmacological activities like analgesic activity, anti hepatotoxicity activity, antiinflammatory activity, antisecreatory avtivity, anti hyperlipidemics activity, anti bacterial, anti fungal, anti giardial, anti microbial, anti oxidant, anti ulcerative, gastroprotective and laxative activity. This review provide us information about “Botanical description, chemical compostion like citrulline, phytochemical and pharmacological activities” of fruit.
