A CLINICAL EVALUATION OF SAPTAMRITA LAUHA AND VYOSHADI VARTI IN THE MANAGEMENT OF KACHA W.S.R. TO CATARACT: A PILOT STUDY

Abstract

The eye is the organ of sight which is the most important and beautiful gift of god. Eye is the “window of soul”, that‟s why it holds special status among all the sense organs. Only eyes can appreciate and perceive this beautiful world. The disease starts with avyakta darshana and leads to lingnasha (complete loss of vision).Only surgery is the treatment in advanced stage of cataract, when vision is considerably affected. The study was conducted in 30 diagnosed patients of Kacha with an objective to assess the effect of Saptamrita lauha, vyoshyadhya varti anjana and in the management of Kacha on various scientific parameters. Statistically extremely significant improvement was found in Subjective parameters like avyakta darshana, viwhala darshna, significant results were found in shiroabhitapa and very significant results in netrayasa etc. Administration of both anjana preparations and oral drug was found to be effective and safe.
