PHARMACOGNOSTIC AND PHYTOCHEMICAL EVALUATION OF MARKET SAMPLES OF AGNIMANTHA

Abstract Ayurvedic plant „Agnimantha’ is one of the potent drug prescribed singly as well as in various formulations like Dashamoola and Brihat panchamoola since ancient time. Demand of Dashamoola are increasing day by day and Ayurvedic pharmacy mostly depended for such supply on raw herbal market. So it is important to evaluate the market sample of Agnimantha which helpful in standardization and maintain the quality control of this crude drug and Dashamoola. The present study deals with evaluation of study on market samples of Agnimantha with compare to Clerodendrum phlomidis Linn. and Premna integrifolia Linn. (root and stem) which are original source plants of Agnimantha. This includes organoleptic, macroscopic, microscopic and physicochemical characters following the prescribed guidelines of the Ayurvedic Pharmacopoeia of India.
