MOST COMMON CAUSES OF HAIR LOSS IN WOMEN IN THE EASTERN REGION OF SAUDI ARABIA

Abstract

Background: Since the old centuries, women hair is considered acharacteristic sign of beauty and it is contributing to a psychologicalperception of attractiveness. The Arabian poets were writing a lot offlirting poems about the length, darkness & thickness of women hair.On the 21st century hair still one of the important beauty marks. Hairloss has several reasons that would cause direct psychological impacton women and because finding the cause of the disease is the half ofthe treatment, we have dedicated our time to research the mostcommon causes of women hair loss in the Eastern Region of SaudiArabia. Method: Questionnaire distributed on 3065 women. UsingGoogle forms survey data analysis. Results: Familial history was the most common cause ofthe hair loss in our region account for 74%, followed by the usage of chemical products54.7%, then iron deficiency anemia, which was found in 29% of the participants. Others like:Thyroid abnormalities, other chronic diseases such as autoimmune diseases, hair type,frequent washing, hormonal changes, smoking and dieting accounts for the least causes ofhair loss in our region. Conclusion: The reasons behind hair loss in women in The EasternRegion of Saudi Arabia are multifactorial.
