METHOD DEVELOPMENT AND VALIDATION FOR DETERMINATION OF RILMENIDINE DIHYDROGEN PHOSPHATE IN BULK AND PHARMACEUTICAL FORMULATIONS BY EXTRACTIVE SPECTROPHOTOMETRY
*Devi Thamizhanban and Dr. Tulja Gampa Rani
Abstract A simple, sensitive and accurate extractive spectrophotometric method is developed for determination of Rilmenidine dihydrogen phosphate (RLD) in bulk and pharmaceutical dosage form. The developed method involves extraction of coloured ion-pair complex formed between RLD drug and bromothymol blue from aqueous acidic medium into organic solvent chloroform. The extracted organic solvent showed absorbance maximum at 414 nm. The optimum reaction conditions such as pH, reagent amount, extracting solvent and the stoichiometry of the ion-pair complex were investigated. Under the optimized conditions, the Beer’s law is obeyed in the concentration range of 5-25 μg/ml with acceptable correlation coefficient (r2 > 0.995). The results of analysis were validated stastically. The proposed method is successfully applied for the determination of Rilmenidine in bulk and pharmaceutical dosage form. Keywords: Rilmenidine dihydrogen phosphate (RLD), Bromothymol blue, Spectrophotometry, Ion-pair complex. [Full Text Article] [Download Certificate] |
