Abstract

The present study comprises Bio chemical, physiochemical evaluation of ‘’Vasambu Choornam’’ (Acorus calamus Rhizome Powder) different extracts using petroleum ether, chloroform, ethyl acetate and methanol and aqueous solvents by using standard methods. The formulation was evaluated for its physico chemical study such as ash value, extractive value, microbial load, heavy metal analysis, Thin Layer Chromatography and High Performance Thin Layer Chromatography as per the Pharmacopeial laboratory standards of Indian medicine. This study will help in development of a suitable monograph, determining the quality and purity of the drug.
