EVALUATION OF NASYA WITH MASHADI SIDDHA TAILA IN AVABAHUKA- A PILOT STUDY

Abstract Avabahuka is a disease that usually affects the Amsa sandhi(shoulderjoint). In the sedentary and restless lifestyle of people both aharaj andviharaj hetu and least importance to physical exercises affects the bodyand produce disease. Avabahuka is the disease produced by the vatadosha. Aim of the present study is to Study the effect of Nasya inAvabahuka with Mashadi Siddha Taila administered in 15 patients forseven days. References regarding Avabahuka and Nasya karmacollected from Sharangdhar. Acharya Sushruta and others haveconsidered this vyadhi as Vataja vikara. Here amsa shosha can beconsidered as preliminary stage of disease where loss or dryness of theshleshaka kapha from the shoulder joint and symptoms like shuladuring movement. Avabahuka manifests due to the depletion of tissue elements (dhatuKshaya) as well as Samsrushta dosha. Mashadi Siddha Taila Nasya is being the treatment ofchoice found beneficial and moderately significant effect (P < 0.01) after treatment. Keywords: Nasya, Mashadi Siddha Taila, Avabahuka.
