EFFICACY OF DHANYAKADI YOGA LEPAN IN YUVANA PIDIKA

Abstract

Yuvan Pidika is a disease of sebaceous gland occurring at a particular age. It generally starts at the age of adolescence and stop at the age of thirty years. Patients having acne have increased secretion of sebaceous glands due to which there is increased oiliness of the skin. These sebaceous glands start functioning at puberty under the influence of sex hormones. Androgen hormones increase the size of sebaceous glands while oestrogen hormones have opposite action so it reduces the size of sebaceous glands. The secretion of the sebaceous gland is due to degeneration and lyses of the sebaceous cells after complete lipidisation during maturation process. Here in this study we have discussed about Dhanyakadi Yoga, Lepana karma, Vamana karma, aetiology of Yuvan Pidka (acne) and its management by Ayurvedic methods and their effects.
