TO STUDY THE EFFICACY OF CHANDRAPRABHA VARTI ANJANA IN PINGUECULITIS

Abstract

Pinguecula is an extremely common degenerative condition ofconjuctiva. It is characterized by formation of yellowish white patch onthe bulbar conjuctiva near to the limbus. Inflammation of Pinguecula iscalled as Pingueculitis.it is characterized by Pain, Redness, wateringand foreign body sensation in eyes. Pinguecula are found in the Nasaland Temporal Limbal conjuctiva. The major cause for this condition isnot known but it is found that those people are exposed to sunlight,wind, dust and dry climate for a longer duration are more prone to thisdisease. Lakshanas of Pingueculitis can be correlated to some extentwith the sings and sympotoms of Pishtak. Pingueculitis is morefrequent in hot and dry climate. Histological picture is very similar tothat of pterygium and hence is considered to be its Precursor. If left untreated withinflammation leads to inflamed pterygium and causes chronic symptoms. Hence there is needto find safe and effective medicine. In Yogratnakar Netrarog Chikisa Chandraprabha VartiAnjana is mentioned as Treatment for Pishtak. Signs and symptoms of Pishtak can becorrelated with Pingueculitis.
