Abstract Swarasa Kalpana is very widespread Kalpana described in Ayurvedic literature. We can found many footprints of Swarasa Kalpana in Vedas also. Swarasa is traditionally used in Ayurvedic practices. These preparations occupy unique position in pharmaceutics on account of their superiority to other preparations. In Ayurveda, the pharmaceutics is dealt under the heading of Bhaishajya Kalpana. Bhaishajya Kalpana deals with wide range of medicinal preparations chiefly Panchavidhya kashaya kalpana, namely Swarasa (Expressed juice), Kalka (Paste), Kashaya (Decoction), Hima (Cold water infusion) and Phanta (Hot water) and secondary preparation like, Vati (Tablets), Avaleha (Linctus), Sneha (Medicated oils), Churna (Powder), Asava and Arishta Kalpana (Alcoholic preparation). Folklore medicines plays vital role in many rural places to cure various types of diseases manifestations.
