ANALYTICAL STANDARDIZATION OF RASNADI GHRITAM

Abstract

The term stroke is also known as cerebro vascular accident or cerebrovascular insult or brain attack. Annual incidence of stroke is estimatedbetween 180 and 300 per 1000 persons. The incidence is rises steeplywith age and adoption of less healthy life styles. According toAyurveda CVA is compared with Pakshghata mentioned in 80 typesVata vyadhi. So samanya Vata vyadhi chikista sutras like snehana,swedana, sodhana(virecana) followed by vasti to be followed. Inhemiplegia snehana can be done internally or externally with siddhaghritas or tailas having vata samaka drugs. One such ghritas isRasanadi ghritam which contain Rasna.Sati, Pushkaramula,Mahoushada, Pippali, Chitraka.It is indicated in vataroga mentioned in(A.H .VATAVYADHI. CHI 21/57) and also having Vata hara properties. An attempt hasbeen made in present study to prepare Rasnadi ghrita and analysis it for its organolepticproperties like Iodine value, Moisture value, Saponification value as well asChromatographically for developing standard parameters.
