SYNTHESIS AND ANTIBACTERIAL ACTIVITY OF BENZOHYDRAZIDE DERIVATIVES LINKING THIENO[3,2- c]PYRIDINE NUCLEUS

Abstract The present paper describes the synthesis and antibacterial activity ofthieno [3, 2-c] pyridine-hydrazide–hydrazone derivatives (9a-j) fromreadily accessible starting material Thiophene aldehyde. All the newlysynthesized hydrazone derivatives are characterized by 1H NMR, massand IR data. These compounds were further evaluated for antibacterialactivity against Gram-positive and Gram negative bacteria. Most of thecompounds showed promising anti-bacterial activity.
