A COMPREHENSIVE REVIEW ON STROKE CEREBROVASCULAR DISORDER

Abstract A stroke is a serious medical condition that occurs when the bloodsupply to part of the brain is cut off. The stroke is of two types namelyischemic stroke and haemorrhagic stroke. Ischemic stroke is the mostcommon type which is caused due to local thrombus formation or toemboli that occlude a cerebral artery. Cerebral atherosclerosis is acausative factor in most causes of ischemic stroke, 30% are ofunknown aetiology. Ischemic stroke is again of two types they arecerebral infarction and lacunar infarction. Haemorrhagic accounts for12% strokes and include subarachnoid haemorrhage intra cerebralhaemorrhage and sub-dural hematomas. Subarachnoid haemorrhagemay result from trauma or rapture of an intra-cranial aneurysm orarteriovenous malformation. The present review discusses the types, epidemiology, setiology,pathophysiology & treatment.
