SOLUBILTY PARAMETER PREDICTION OF NABUMETONE BY THEORATICAL AND PRACTICAL APPROACH IN INDIVIDUAL SOLVENTS
Meena Kharwade*, C. V. S. Subrahmanyam and Pramod Kharwade
Abstract Solubility parameter is the indication of internal pressure within the molecules. The solubility behavior of nabumetone was estimated in almost 27 various solvents ranging from nonpolar to highly polar in nature for getting solubility parameter of the same. Solutions containing an excess of drug were shaken for 72 h at 25°C, filtered and analyzed. The molar enthalpy of fusion was obtained from DSC studies. The ideal solubility of nabumetone was calculated from the entropy of fusion. The extended Hansen’s method was applied for analyzing the experimental solubility results and partial solubility parameters were obtained for knowing the solute-solvent interaction. The method applied regression analysis of logarithm of the experimental mole fraction solubility of the drug against the partial solubility parameters of the solvent. A correlation was almost up to 79% using Flory-Huggins size correction term B with four parameter approach, in the prediction of nabumetone solubility. The total solubility parameter consigned was 10.95 H, which was almost near to the value obtained by Fedors method (10.17 H). Keywords: Nabumetone; Solubility; Extended Hansen’s approach; Flory-Huggins size correction; Partial solubility parameters. [Full Text Article] [Download Certificate] |
