THE WELLNESS SECRETS OF A SUPERIOR BEVERAGE: WHITE TEA

Abstract
The objective of this article is to highlight the enormous goodness of
white tea on health, which has not received prominence until now as its
counter-part green tea. Although, all kinds of tea are manufactured
from the same species of Camellia sinensis the difference lies in the
techniques applied in the mechanics of processing the leaves. The
white tea considered as a delight of the elites, and familiar only to the
tea connoisseurs, has captured its distinctive value because of the
specialty in its processing that is – no frying and no crushing of the tea
buds and the white hair which acts as a covering enhances it’s
characteristic. The unfermented, least oxidized or un-oxidized white
tea is power packed with the polyphenols especially catechin
derivatives, the bioactive factor which helps to prevent oxidative Stress life style diseases and
certain non- communicable diseases, the leading causes of death in this era. It plays a potent
role as a medium additive for refrigerated storage of sperms. The ability of white tea to
strengthen immune system thereby improving resistance against diseases and many more
endless health efficacies has led to a pronounced interest in researching, discovering and
appreciating the use of white tea in day- to day life.
