MILD STEEL CORROSION INHIBITION BY AQUEOUS LEAVES EXTRACT OF SCOPARIA DULCIS IN ACID MEDIUM

Abstract
The inhibitive effect of Scoparia dulcis leaves extract on the corrosionof mild steel in acid medium was investigated using potentiodynamicpolarization and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS)techniques. The stability of the inhibition efficiency of Scoparia dulcisextract was examined by weight-loss method. The corrosion rates ofsteel and the inhibition efficiencies of the extract obtained fromimpedance and polarization measurements were in good agreement.Inhibition was found to increase with an increasing concentration ofthe plant extract. The results obtained show that the Scoparia dulciscould serve as an effective inhibitor for the corrosion of mild steel inacid medium.
