Abstract
Aerva persica belongs to family Amaranthaceae, is one of the
important plant family, species. The present study was investigated
that ethanol plant extract selected to determined different types of
antioxidant activities like; dot blot DPPH method, DPPH scavenging
activity, ABTS method, reducing power assay, OH radical scavenging
assay, nitric oxide scavenging assay, total antioxidant activity
(Phosphomolybdenum (PMo) reduction), lipid Peroxidation Inhibition
(TBRAS) assay and ferric reducing antioxidant potential (FRAP)
assay. In dot plot method ethanol extract showed purple backgrounds
and yellow spots, it confirmed that extract shows antioxidant activity.
In DPPH method maximum inhibition percentage (80.34%) was
observed, IC50 values (131.19 μg/mL) calculated, in ABTS method
(84.05%; IC50 28.24 μg/mL), FRAP assay measures the reducing capability by increased
sample absorbance, hydroxyl method (89.45%; IC50 29.25 μg/mL), nitric oxide assay
(74.57%; IC50 (44.23 μg/mL), total antioxidant activity (Phosphomolybdenum (PMo), Lipid
peroxidation antioxidant (TBRAS) activities of ethanol extract showed (74.57%; IC50 44.23
μg/mL). This plant might be explored therapeutic agent in future and a good source of
neutraceuticals.
Keywords: Amaranthaceae, ABTS, diabetic wounds, DPPH, Flavonoids, Lipid peroxidation.
