Abstract
A series of novel Pyrazoline 3a-l and Isoxazoline 4a-l derivatives have been synthesized as potential antibacterial agents. The Pyrazoline derivatives 3a-l have been synthesized by reaction of various Chalcones 2a-l with hydrazine hydrate in ethanol. The Isoxazolines 4al were prepared by the reaction of various Chalcones 2a-l with hydroxyl amine hydrochloride in presence of sodium acetate using ethanol as a solvent. The structures of the new synthesized compounds were established on the basis of 1H-NMR, Mass spectra, IR and elemental analysis data. All the newly synthesized compounds were screened for their antibacterial activity against E. coli, S. thyphi (Gramnegative bacteria), S. aureus, M. luteus (Gram-positive bacteria) and antifungal activity against Candida albicans (Fungi).
Keywords: Pyrazoline, Isoxazoline, Antimicrobial activity.
