AN AYURVEDIC MANAGEMENT OF VIPADIKA: A CASE REPORT

Abstract
Skin is the first organ of the body interacting with the environmentalagent like physical, chemical and biological agents. The skin disordersare intrinsic in origin, all skin diseases in Ayurveda have beenconsidered under the heading of kustha, in the other words it can beknown as “Ayurvedic dermatology”.[1] Kustha are mainly divided intotwo group i.e. Mahakustha and kshudra kustha. Vipadika is one of thediseases which have been included under the heading of kshudrakustha; it is characterized by Sphutanam either in palms or soles or inboth with teevra Vedana.[2] Some previous research work has beenpreviously done on vipadika and in view the prevalence of the disease,in present case study a humble effort was planned to conduct thisclinical trial. In present case report a patient with complaint offissuring, itching, scaling, roughness and pain in both palms and soles, treated withShodhan[3] (Virechan) and Sanshaman chikitsa with significant results. This combination hasbeen selected for the management of vipadika.
