Abstract
The aim of the present study is to develop a new simple, precise
Spectrophotometric method for estimation of Darunavir using 1, 2
Naphthoquinone 4-sulphonate in presence of an alkaline medium.
Analysis was performed on Shimadzu UV-1800 UV-Visible
spectrophotometer with spectral bandwidth of 1nm and using a pair of
10mm matched glass cells. The method is based on the formation of
bright orange color complex formed by reaction of Naphthoquinone
sulphonate with Darunavir. The nucleophilic substitution proceeds
quantitatively in alkaline medium (0.01N NaOH) with an absorption
maximum at 460nm. The calibration curve is linear over concentration
range of 10-80μg/ml and the regression equation obtained was
Y=0.014x+0.012 with regression coefficient R2=0.9997 and the
Sandell’s sensitivity was found to be 0.09μg/ml. Accuracy and
precision studies performed were found to be within limits.
