Abstract
Present era is advanced and competitive, in this fast life world women
are trying to compare equally with men. Woman's health is considered
to be the one concerned with family, society and culture. Uterine
fibroids are the commonest benign solid tumours in female. It has been
estimated that at least 20% of women at the age of 30 have got fibroid
in their uterus. As they are seen during prime working years, they
negatively impact women’s ability to work. Symptomatology like
heavy bleeding, pain in abdomen, back pain etc. interfere with the
social, professional and mental wellbeing of women. The study of
Ayurvedic classics has revealed that the symptomatoly of the disease
“Arbuda” can be correlated to that of benign tumour. Vata and other
Doshas getting aggravated and vitiate Mamsa Dhatu, produce a round,
bulged, gradually increasing, generally not painful and hard swelling. The modalities
available in contemporary medical science mainly includes hormonal therapy, hysterectomy,
myomectomy and uterine artery embolization. Unfortunately none of these method are
considered as the sole reply to this disaese. Thus, now, women are looking for non invasive
treatment methods which do not require hospitalization and lengthy recovery. This is where
an Ayurvedic approach is needed. From different drugs mentioned in Ayurvedic classics
Mulaka Kshara is selected for this case study.
