Abstract
The present study isto evaluate the prevalence of gastroenteritisin
Durgabhai Deshmukh Hospitals,to assessthe incidence of Rota
Virusinfection among children with acute gastroenteritis, notice the
seasonal variation of the disease and todemonstrate the clinical
featuresand laboratory findings that are likely to beobserved withRota
Virus gastroenteritis. In the present prospective observational study
total numbers of 105 patients were observed those are suffering with
gastroenteritis. Among the 105 patients 59 were male and 46 were
female. From this 16 (27.12%) male and 8 (17.39%) female follow the
inclusion criteria. This shows the males had highest prevalence than
females. When we analyses the datawith respect of Season the result
are quite interesting. For total of 105 patients 24 were positive i.e.
22.86% of prevalence. When we analyses the positive data, in the month of February (winter
season) we find the highest prevalence i.e. 38.46%. The month of September had the second
highest prevalence of 33.33%. The month of May had the least prevalence of 8.33%. The
present study reveals that the effect of Rotavirus is high in low temperature seasons i.e.
winter and rainy and effect of rotavirus low in summer season.
